Folks, here is what I think is one of the coolest lamps ever made!
It's made of Bakelite, 8 3/4"high x 7 1/2"wide x 8"deep. This lamp was designed by Clarence Kennedy for Polaroid. The look epitomizes the Machine Age/Art Deco design ethic. The lamp is in great shape, no chips I can find, and even the amber shield is in great condition. When I got it, it was very dull, and the cord needed to be replaced. Picture 3 shows when I was 1/2 done. I completely disassembled it, and washed the case in warm soapy water, I then spent an enjoyable 1/2 hour or so rubbing it down with Soft Scrub As you can see, it worked wonders! It was wonderful to work on, the only thing I needed to replace was the cord. The socket, switch etc. was in great shape. I only have a 60 watt bulb in there ( that's all I had in the house) but it calls for a 100 watt frosted bulb. I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed restoring this beauty!
Coolest desk lamp I've ever seen!
Thanks for all the loves, everyone!
Thanks, Nicefice!
