A gorgeous applied flower opalescent vase in green and opals of pink and yellow, just stunning. I love it. I'm so glad I waited to get one of these. I will post pontil when I get time. I think it's Kralik....am esctastic about the price I got it for, $40AUD. It's worth around $400-700 depending on market. But this one's never about the selling value but the gorgeous vase it is ;) . Enjoy...
Scott do you know much about the different types of vases that were produced by this maker in this style? Do you own any or buy of sell any? Do you know about the range of prices they attract. There are many different ones out there. The plainer ones sell for a lesser amount and some are worth up to $10000 due to their rarity and beauty. Having said that I've not seen one similar to mine . Fortunately I was able to run it by a seller of this type of vase and he priced it for me. I have all the faith in the world of his accuracy . Thanks for viewing and I'm glad you like it. It is indeed a stunning vase. Seeing the colours in the opalescent stripe work is a pure joy and that flower is just stunning. I have no argument anyway over the price as I'm a buyer not a seller. :)
So beautiful Anne:) ...as for the price discussion.... touche !
Just read lot of fake Kralik and Loetz pieces are listed and being sold on Ebay. They are probably manufactured in China or Romania.
yes well this aint and thanks for your input....
yes there are, the clues are a good eye and lots of experience..
I'm really glad you raised this point Martika as it's a huge problem.
Usually the Chinese are stupid and they sell it out of China direct....
The trick really is age, beauty, marks and a gut feel you get. I've seen heaps of fakes in Loetz Tango, heaps......but rest assured the beauty in my gorgeous vase could only be produced by those clever little Europeans.... :) There is another check and balance I have but I tend to keep that as a collector myself...don't want the Chinese reading :)
Good for you Anne if you can tell the difference. I don't know much about glass, I collect mostly old English pottery. Even among it you can find fakes, but I imagine it's more prevalent where an original piece commands a high price.
it's a little more complex than just this Martika. Experienced collectors know...there are just a lot of things we do to ensure it doesnt happeb. Provenance is a big one, buying from dealers you know which is why I don't buy much from ebayer these days...night
Just going to tidy this post up as it's become not what it was intended to be. It was intended to be a post about a lovely vase. So many people have walked away from this page because they find it bitchy and nasty. Mainly people who werent involved in the slanging match of 2 years ago which saw me remove 70 per cent of my items and I will never relist any of that part of my collection again as it has soured my enjoyment of sharing.
If you want to make uplifting comments about a beautiful vase feel free, you are welcome here :)
JUST STUNNING AND VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!
Thank you Sean. As usual you only have lovely things to say about peoples items...
I hope you are well.....?
Your very welcome AnneLanders !! I am well and how are you Anne?
I am still fighting. Scans again tomorrow, Bone and Full Body. I've been on chemo since March. Need to come off it for a bit as the cancer has cloned and broken through the treatment regime which is a bit sad as it was all going so well....
I welcome everyone to share in my vase of uplifting celebration of life...
The vase is without doubts gorgeous. I keep my fingers crossed for you, I hope you will win against cancer.
Thank you Martika, that is most kind of you... Anne
HI Anne you know Ilove these flower vases .. and at $40 it's a steal!
It looks big and beautiful.. and is illustrated in Butler Catalogues I think ??
noooooo really.....how wonderful Marty, youve got that havent you? Could you kindly send me the illustration...And whilst I know mine isnt worth anything around you $10,000 jobey! I'll send you an email to see what your thoughts are from a friendly acclaimed Czech writer and collector.....
Gosh these amatuers drive me nuts... :) cheeky I know but nothing wrong with a little fun.....
Wonderful piece, and good job at getting a awesome deal on it!
Thank you Shawn.
I feel a bit cheapenned by mentioning the price. I should be pretending I paid $750 which is the value it's been given. And the trouble is you can get a deal on anything at the moment. I honestly think the seller had no idea. But I loved it so much, the detail is incredible. I sit and look at it time over and see new things everytime.
I did not for one minute think I would win this. I had put in a higher range to protect my bid but I thought, na, I won't win. But I did.
Some ppl don't like them. Some say they are gawdy and too busy. I had seen versions friends had and I was amazed. Some say they arent worth that much..well bully for you. We choose to trust our sources and my advice is, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything. A rather old chesnut of mine but a reflection of the need in society to return to the days of good manners.
When it arrived Shawn I was so excited and to be honest, I still am. It is with no doubt one of my better vases and even better buys.
Thank you again for commenting....
