I saw this lovely little antique painted wood 5x7" frame in a garage at an estate sale YEARS ago! There was just a piece of paper in it. Got it for pennies. Brought it home and found HER! I guess she offended someone in the house, and they turned her backward in the frame. What LOVELY surprise!
She is marked Brown & Bigelow, St. Paul Minn 1932. It is a Tinto-Graveure. But WHO is the artist? Anyone recognize the signature there in white? She hangs in the bathroom with many other lovely ladies.
wow bb2 will wake up for sure :-) She is magnificent !!!
She is the epitome of 30s beauty. Great find Celiene.
Ha! She is so beautiful! Great idea to have such ladies theme in a bathroom!
Now you'll have Bb2 as a permanent resident on your page :-D
She's gorgeous :) and by Rolf Armstrong.
The title is "Asparsia" Rolf Armstrong (1890-1960)
Here's her story .....
Described as one of the most beautiful and educated women of her era, Aspasia became the consort of Pericles, leader of democratic Athens. Their relationship caused scandal in the male-dominated world of Classical Athens, not only because the couple remained unmarried, but because of her determination to be treated as an equal. Mixing with some the greatest minds of her generation, and at the very center of Athenian political life, Aspasia's story is unique among the women of her time…
