i found these 4 very old beams at Urban Ore in Berkeley today. they appear to have been part of a temple or something. they are all very old and mortised and tenoned. the paint on them is barely there at all, but pretty beautiful despite the condition. i'd love to learn something about them. i bought them all to build something at my nursery. i'll probably use them w/ some gigantic carved circus tent poles from India i have.
you can see some really cool dragons in the paint.
each beam is 8 ft long and about 10 inches square.
Beautiful pieces of wood! Could they be pieces of a door of a Mongolian yurt?
thank you Blanca. i don't think so, as the way they are carved and mortised and tenoned, i can tell it was for a square structure. it could be Tibetan or Chinese. could be Mongolian too, but not for a yurt!
TERRIFIC
thanks PostCardCollector!
