Some of my range of hobnail vases from Japan, often called Dalek vases for obvious reasons.

I have shown some of these before but dug them out recently and started comparing make and bases.

Clearly the large cylindrical orange and clear is Tajima Glass (the sticker says so!) although I have seen these with an OTK sticker. OTK was an exporter not a producer.

The other orange with the big bobbles is labelled Alpine Safe Edge, another distributor and although I am not sure I believe it is also Tajima.

I've done another post on Dalek vases with info about the red vase.

As in the Dr. Who's Daleks ??
    2. racer4four racer4four, 9 years ago
Yep. I don't think Dr Who was so big in the States but big here in Oz.
Daleks are the best! Davros was a great villain!

I am a sucker for anything hobnail, except possibly boots on my head.

It is among the sci-fi buffs :)....I've been watching since the 70's . Back in the day it was on PBS here. Now with the dish networks I catch it on BBC America and SciFi. I've lost track of how many actors have played him almost a dozen over the years. David Tenant was very good and Tom Baker was the one I grew up with, The new older Dr. Who just reminds me of how old I'm getting...lol

Always love these beautiful groupings you do, Karen, amazing. Love that first photo, the oranges are so delicious. Japanese hobnail, who knew? :)

Tom Baker - he's my big memory too Mike. I tried to knit the scarf as a teenager!

I'm with you Ken - hobnail glass is so good. Thanks mate!

Thanks Ivonne. Groups are always good.

The Japanese did orange better than anyone, and hobnails were good too. Thanks Katherine, glad you are enjoying them.

All lovely Karen! The ones I particularly love are the back three in pic 4. I find the randomness and size differences of the "nails" so appealing!

They are the best and trust you to pick it Rick. Both from Tajima....I love these two.
