Round Silver/Vermeil Pocket Watch. Gold colored beautiful hands. The back is entirely of silver and nicely decorated. The side is also special because of the two vermeil pink gold plated form edges and in between a silver band.
There are 2 marks; one introduced in Switzerland for watch cases in 1880 a grouse for the higher standard of 0.800 silver. The other one probably the makers mark: P.B
I don’t dare to open this pocket watch because I do not know how to do that. Do this no experience.
Who can help me with, and who might know who the creator of this pocket watch could be.
I wouldn't dare to guess, I don't know European watches that well, but I can tell you it's a "push-pin" set type watch. You depress the little pin on the side and turn crown same time to set the time. This sort of helps date...... late 1800's into the 1930's. Very Nice looking piece, love the Fob Chain
officialfuel thanks for love.
kerry10456 thanks for your extensive and valuable comments. With this help, I can open the watch anyway. And of course also thank you for love!
Agram.m, it wouldn't help me opened, there were/are so many Swiss watch makers, if it wasn't a well know company with Logo or markings, I couldn't id either.
Hi Marga, I think these watches with the little push pin have an escapement cylinder movement.
To open it, do you see a little place intended to insert a blade, is there a hinge?
I usually use a thin rounded blade butter knife to open mine :-)
Forgot to say the two color and faceted rim are beautiful, and love the chain!!!
So beautiful!!! I passed on a few Elgin ladie's pocket watches in Louisville yesterday. Sort of regretting it today.
Hello Kyra, thanks for loving this item and useful comment . The pocket watch chain I already have some years. Beautiful 14K gold with Amethyst. To wear as bracelet with my other Amethyst jewelry. And answering your question; No there is no hinge at all in the pocket watch.
jscotto363 thanks ! Next time you know what to do.
