First picture is of the back. Those nails as you will see do not go all the way through the wood to the other side. It looks exactly the same on the other back side but the seam of the wood is on the inside. The next picture looking at it with the front towards you is the right "corner" all the way up and down. The next two are opposite sides I just wanted to show how the wood wraps around and how well it was made.
Now this actually had 3 different paints on it. One white, one black, and a mint green on the inside. As I was removing the paint from the inside I decided to leave some behind. I thought it looked good that way and still do. Personal preference there. I hated the white! But alas I couldn't remove it all.
Now as far as the wood, it proved to be very difficult to work with. I sanded, and sanded, and sanded again. I went down to 220 and the stain would not pent rate that wood. I'm not joking, I tried 3. I was doing some research and learned that fir grabs stain best at 100 grit. Again with sanding and going against every fiber in my body, but it worked. Finally, it grabbed the stain. I thought it might feel really rough and it does not. It's smooth, and I'm very happy with and all that I learned from this. Ask me to do it again, and I will spit on the ground, walking away muttering Italian obscenities, and I dare you to remind me that I'm a lady!! Hahahaha. : )

      B.Kay,
Sounds like this one was quite a task! I've had a few that I nearly lost my religion over. But, it's all worth it in the end. You did a great job on this! Why folks insist on painting these trunks is beyond me. But, they do and it just makes the restoration more of a challenge. And I love a challenge!

SEAN68, thank you very much, I have another post on here with the whole chest. 2 months ago I posted the before under the title, old chest. Yesterday I posted under Scandinavian Chest Small (finally finished)!
I hope that helps, and thanks again. : )
