Many people hated school as a child.
I never really liked it, but I like 1800s school-books.
My oldest so far, an Instructive Reader, is from 1849. It came out of a school in the near city of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
My newest is actually the one in the final picture. It's a reprint in 1925 by Henry Ford. He pretty much had an 1860s school-book copied.
Otherwise, the newest there is the 1927 Teacher's Supplement from North Dakota (paper one at bottom right.)
The second photo is out of an 1890s school-book for grades 4 and 5. The ship one, pic 3, is from a poem in an 1883 school-book.
A couple I've restored. Several need restoration quite badly. 1 doesn't. I've read much of a few, but most have pictures in them.
They all range from 1849 to 1927. I have 1850s, 1860s, 1870s, 1890s, 1900s. So enjoy them!!!!
Great collection of books!!
Thanks. :)
