    Often, I dig up marbles.
Digging a hole for a tree, a foot and a half down the final one (larger clear) I spot.
Poking around the creek where once and old school was, the 3rd (tealy) I spot. Same with the almost fluorescent blue-white one in pic 1.
Digging along the foundation of our house, the very odd half-gold half-crackle one I spot.
Walking on the path through the woods, the little yellow and little white one I spot.
Digging in a small hillside dump of item from 1910ish to the 1960s, I find clay marbles.

What I don't spot is helpful information on dating these, and a number of others. Somewhere, my favorite is swirled orange in blueish-white opaque glass.

      LOL. That's terrible!!

For some reason, I only now have realised that your name doesn't say Nice Fire.

It's probably because I'm reading black text on white. My eyes hate that.

I can dig it, that you dig it. Keep your mini shovel handy at all time, seems to be paying off!

      I try. :P

Very nice little treasures, Spirit! I like the crackle one most. If you do find useful info on dating them, please post. I find them on my property occasionally too. No idea how old they are.

The clay are oldest. Probably 1930s on them.

I always love finding old marbles when digging in yard through the years and several houses . I notice you have same problem as me reading black text on white it is very hard on my eyes and it glares. Neat post !

Manikin, they are fun little things.

When letters are too close together, such as iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, I see the entire rainbow in them.... LOL.

Sadly the glass ones are made by machine.
    16. Collectomaniac Collectomaniac, 9 years ago
That's ok. There's some good (valuable) hard to find machine made ones out there. Even Mexico's Mega marbles (Vacor) are collectable. Some date back to the 30's.
It can be a fun and affordable hobby I found.
