I found this vase at a fleemarket a few months ago and payed about 40 Swedish Crowns (4.29 euro/4.6 USD) for it. I didn´t know who it was by just thought I saw quality and I loved it.
After some search I´ve recognized what´s the marks means and I have found other pieces on line to compare with. I have red that Emil Weidlich was recruited by Simon Gate to Orrefors glasworks in the 1920's. He was then at Elme glasworks until he started his own glassworks in 1942 called Värends glasbruk at Älmhult Sweden. This piece is signed Värends konstglas e.w. 78. I think 78 is the production number. It´s 13 cm x 16 cm x 10,5 cm.
I don´t know the value of this today but I think it was worth gettting :)
stunning!!!!
I'd agree, well worth buying.....lovely!
Beautiful piece !...just love Art Deco :)
Magnificent, I have been wanting to collect Orrefors for so long and never found that one piece (like this one) that put me over the roof. Congratulations, I am in awe.
I have had 2 pieces before but never a design quite like this, that made me keep them.
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL !!!!!

Thankyou for nice coments Sean, Nicefice, sklo, mikelv, bladerunner and vetraio!
Bladerunner thankyou for telling me of your thoughts on this and making me feel even more happy about my find :) I couldn't belive my eyes when I saw it stand there on the fleemarket table amongst other "throwaway" things. Sad in away, someone once bought it and knew it's quality and someone else didn't see it. But that was good for me ofcourse, and I've lucky no one threw it in the recykling bin. I like it's clean lines together with the graceful engraving.
Thankyou racer4you!

Small piece. Just looking at that page, such price fluctuations. Very tempting.
My Father bought a lot of Kosta and other Swedish glass, which now would be classified as mid-century modern; most of our furniture was mid-century too. But................where is it now?
Thankyou for love Katherinescollection, Radegunder, MargoChanning and Celiene!
Thankyou Gillian for commenting. I love the vase in your link but it´s not the same maker nor glassworks. Kosta also has nice things though. I´ll see if I can find a link to a piece of the maker that made my vase. And I agree, where did all those wonderful old furniture go that was all over our house when I was a kid, those danish chrome and leather chairs, the teak sideboard....oh it´s to hard to think that they where probably thrown or given away...
