I purchased this trunk from a local Arc thrift store for $9.99 that needed a little TLC.....NO!, I had never seen one before....A copper lined basin, 4 drawers, and secret compartment in the top (for your good tea ?). Apparently, it is a Naga Hibachi tea box made of Japanese Keyaki Elm that you placed your grill inside to heat your teapot. The trunk is made of solid cross cut on all 4 sides, (not veneer) with nice dovetail corners on the outside, but inside the drawers are slapped together but-to-but...a mix of square and round nails (11.5"H, 22"W, 14"D).
Unfortunately, this trunk is missing its base molding, etc ?...Can anyone provide me with a picture of an all original so I can completely restore this piece of furniture ???....or if you have a broken one I am willing to purchase the base molding, handle, and its grill for the tea pot.
Thanks for your time
Happy Trails
