    Hi, this has been sitting in my shed for years and I have no idea what it is.

    It's brass and heavy. Could it be 1 of 2 and something used to rest fireplace tools on ?

    Just loaded a 3rd picture. I didn't realise the top unscrews.

    Any help in identifying would be appreciated.

      That might help :) There are 2 numbers on the base of he ball 71. Not much help I know.

      A lighting rod for a barn ?? I have NO idea, just guessing......

      Is it hollow anywhere?? Solid? Any wear on it anywhere?

      A shoe/boot rest -- or like a place where you get your shoes shined? You rest your boot heel on it to be polished.....?
