Looks to be something the wealthy of the past would have dragged out when they had run out of the regular chairs. Oh must we use these dreadful things. I fear so.
As I am furniture knowledge impaired I will say pretty old. Could be Victorian could be 1930s. It does have some nice woodwork going on.
This comes in handy as I have little space but I did need another chair.
GREAT Victorian folding chair. Folding chairs like this are uncommon and "of the era".
From what I see it certainly dates from the late 19th century!

Thank you very much brunswick.
Thank you very much scottvez. I took out a screw and the wood is quite old. I believe I shall amend the description and add a more dignified title befitting a Vicorian piece.
LOL! I love your description! I actually believe this may be a bit older than you may think. As soon as I saw it I thought of the Eastlake picture frames. I'm pretty sure this is hand carved, here, take a peek at these frames. You probably have to scroll down a bit. A couple of the other pages have corners on the frames very similar to this chair.

I forgot to say, from 1840 - 1860. Could be..
Nov 19th 1857 and thank you very much shareurpassion. OK I will keep my description.
Went through the frames saw a pretty good match on the right near the bottom.
Anyway that got me started looking up Victorian folding chairs and some actually have dates and manufacturers on them, on the bottom sides. So I took a look and there it was. Nov 19th 1857 along with some other printing I couldn't read. Boston Furniture Co by the way.
Great research guys.
What an incredible chair and so good for 160 years of age!
Ah, so awesome fort!!! You are so welcome. I didn't even think to tell you to look there, for some reason I just assumed you had already done that! We all know what assume means... ;)
So happy to be some help. I had that feeling about this one. And thank you too Karen. 1857...dang, I don't think I could have gotten any closer! Very cool!
I am so used to not finding any information on furniture I didn't think to look. I research everything else but I seem to intimidated by furniture.
And good call on the date shareurpassion.
