I would like some help identifying this art form, artist, and the date of piece if possible....kind of like scrimshaw. The head was given to me 20 years ago by a crazy collector, but never told me anything about it....It probably looks older than it really is because everybody who sees it picks it up and examines it in great detail...LOL
Thanks for your time
Michael
Update...Apparently Efesgirl, a member of this web site, has matched it with a virtually identical e-bay item listed as a "Japanese Ox Bone Faux Ivory Carved Netsuke Erotic Head".
No, from what I can tell the back of the head does not come off to reveal a nesting effigy inside. Thinking this is a cheaper copy done like scrimshaw.
BUT...I am still looking for more info & wondering what the writing says?
A visitor to the page stated "It's Sushi Man! I think it was made in Okaynowon"
he's got a naked girl on his face. omg
There was a listing on eBay but it's gone now. Listed as a Japanese Ox Bone Faux Ivory Carved Netsuke Erotic Head.

It is Japanese but not a Netsuke. Here you can find the explanation of the use of a Netsuke: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsuke
But I found another example of a head on liveauctioneers.com.

Looks like some tried to pin test it and wasn't happy with the results.
