I've been going off on multiple tangents lately...so why not off into the world of basketry. No category for "baskets"..oh well. This is a pick from Salvation... of course. I found the shape, double lids, and the weave of this basket to be quit nice. Not sure about anything... old vs new, country of origin, or even if it has value. It may not have only served as a picnic basket. It could be a sewing or knitting basket too. Some French baskets have double lids and this steep angled shape. They are very small though and are associated with the "Bebe" dolls as accessories. I guess I could leave it out next month and see if the Easter Bunny hops by and fills it full of goodies for me. PS...Mr. Bunny it doesn't have to be all candy. -Mike-

Great basket! Not a basket expert either, so can't help you there LOL; except to say it's very nice!

Sorry...a bad joke there. I can see why you picked this up. It is beautifully made and useful! (unlike most of my stuff)

Thanks Lisa.....I didn't see a category for basket posts so maybe there aren't any experts either...lol . I really was hoping for some more info too but we shall see. I don't know why, but for some reason I get a European vibe.

I've seen one of the Keno brothers appraising New England basket on Antiques Roadshow, the prices where astounding to say the least..ten grand for a little basket ! I think storage is a very practical use..I'd need at least fifty more...lol.

The Keno brothers "Buried Treasure" show was awesome. They even went to a few hoarders homes and collected pieces for auction and what they find is amazing ! Beautiful things just buried by more beautiful things ! It wasn't on for very long a few episodes on Fox though Dish network. I stumbled on it by accident one day when there wasn't much on. It was on for only one season of four episodes and then Fox cancelled it.....booooo. I really need them to come to my house...lol :)
