Found this beautiful little salt shaker at Salvation last week. It's done in the "Art Nouveau" style . Kind of reminds me of an elephant's foot. The cap has some kind of applied gold or brass color finish while the body has a dark almost black patina. It's made of a cast heavy base metal and is marked USA on one of the bottom lobes. Could be silver plate as the interior of the cap is still very shiny. I like it just as it is but a light cleaning would show the pattern better.Wish I could have found the pepper one as well -Mike-
I love the design! This probably was silver plated at one time and somebody polished to within a millimeter of it's life. Maybe you'll find the pepper shake today... :-)
Thanks Bonnie :)...Well you just never know. Little things like this get separated and then show up days or weeks later.
lol...Thanks Thomas...but it wasn't wasting away in Margaritaville it was more like Avon Ohio. :)
My favorite Salvation Army store in right off the 83 Avon exit on I-90. :)
Sweet Find....I like the patina on it !!
Thanks Rose :)..I tried to polish it a bit but it seems more like paint than patina. It wouldn't budge.
Either that or some one else bought it before I bought this one. I actually did look today though. I'll still keep an eye out. :)
Maybe LEAD METAL salt shaker.
There were Lead Metal Salt and pepper shakers made...Viking Did some for an idea/example
Thanks Thomas :)
