Isn't it sweet!
Probably 1960s, maybe 70s, by Sanyu Glass under their Fantasy Glass - Island Craft label for distributor Narumi..
I actually don't know if this was meant to be an ashtray, it seems awfully big, but of course it is way to pretty to even think of using it for that.
Diameter: 20cm
I'm with Thomas...incense and peppermints, meaningless nouns. Well I would put peppermints in this fab bowl not ashes. :)
The colours are lovely.....and not a common mix....but perhaps it's the Japanese doing their own thing :)
Nothing like Japanese glass, just look at this yummy bowl. The perfect round shape with the perfect colors in the perfect decor. Love it, Karen! :)
Stunning! It should be called "Candy Glass", it truly does look yummy =)
Groove on Thomas...thanks for the love man!
A lolly bowl! Of course that's what it should be! Thanks Mike.
You are quite right there Peggy - the Japanese love their colour and doing their own thing.
Thanks!
Glad you love it Katherine. I think it would suit your personality well! Happy and sweet. Thanks for the love
Is that my name for this one Anna? OK. Good one.. Thanks :)
Very Sweet!!
Love all the colors!!
Really love this one! And the box! Still don't own any glass with a box yet. ;)
One of these days.
I've run out of adjectives for this one....... no, wait....... "KAWAII"!
Thanks for the love and comment Melanie.
Lots of my Japanese glass comes with it's box OGF which is really cool. I think because their decor is very minimalist they retain boxes so items can be moved and put away safely until they are ready to use it again. They would not have multiple vases in a room, just one as a focal point. So.....totally unlike me :(
Kawaii it is Blade. Thanks so much!
Beautiful! I love your last comment, '..unlike me'. Me too, lol.
lovely!!!!
Hi Karen, you have to remember, ashtrays back then were huge! I believe these were ashtrays. I used to have one in cobalt with hand painted flowers. Unfortunately, it found it's way to the floor but it was about the same size as yours.
Thanks sweet Sean and Fran!
Sue - how many packs a day was it to fill a bowl? Actually probably not many, just lots of friends smoking about. I guessed it was an ashtray, I pretend they weren't (head up my own a you know)
Oh flippin eck this is just scrummy :)
Lol, well said Lise! Thanks :)
