From what I can see with your upside down images, this is not regency. Are the back legs very curved?? Usually in regency the front legs are straight and the back legs are almost bow curved.
Hi
Sorry the images are upside down but couldn't get them the right way up!! This is my first day so not sure what to do yet!! It seems I can't add another photo but the legs at the back curve backwards and then slightly forwards again, looking from the side. Does this help?
From what I see of the back, maybe arts and crafts. I post all my photos from my computer so I never get upside down.
I claim no expertise. But does it look like all the springs blew out and someone put the sheet of wood in? I have an older chair kinda like this and it is awaiting for me to have an extra 250-$300 to get recovered. I have all the springs, and they rest on what where canvas type straps and all tied together in some arrangement with a jute type cording. Very nice chair btw. It looks like a footed lidded jar on the back to me.
Hi Collectomaniac
You are correct a piece of wood was put in by my father but I don't know what was there before, possibly the springs that you mention. I will ask my father. Again I agree with you it does look like a footed lidded jar on the back. Any ideas of which era?
Thank you Bladerunner 22. I will look into that
