Hi CW Gang:
They say a picture is worth a thousand words -- so here is on. This was my Brothers 1971 DODGE CHALLENGER with a 440-6 PACK in it and a DANA REAR END. Went like a bat of of he_ _
Vintage photo of an incident that happened. Story is my brother friend was driving my brother car ( he was the passenger ) and were going to be stopped in town by the Cops -- so they decided they would try to out run the cops. Tore out of town., going over 140 *MPH* ( not km ) on a Gravel road and blew a tire, lost control and hit the ditch.....AND this big Rock. Shook up some but no one killed -- just a little hurt. Of course they got charged...LOL. My brother got his charges dropped as they had charged him wrongly as no one was killed -- and it was tossed out of court. Anyhow...the picture Does tell a 1000 words. Thought I would post this old family picture......LOL. I only had B & W film in my Pentax K-1000 that day, so that is why it is B & W -- as I used to shoot some of those pictures.
This was his car. It was a Dark Green with Black. He also had another Challenger ( red ) that had a 318 motor in it. Now those were muscle cars. So grew up with Brothers and all their MUSCLE CARS!!
~~ ~ ~ My other brother had a 1973 - PLYMOUTH SATELLITE SEBRING PLUS that was in snot color Bright Green....LOL. These were Classic Muscle Cars!!
Thanks for LOOKING / and LOVING !!
~ Rose ~
Thanks for the ~ LOVES ~ and sorry I made you cry bobby725, but I understand the tears. Those were the cars back then.
yes they were lucky no one was seriusly injuried. The Funny part of everything was that big rock. There was not another one that size ( in the ditch ) anywhere around there -- Yet when they hit the ditch -- there is was. Murphy's law I guess??
MOPAR RULES!!!!!
I had a 1973 Mach 1 with a 351 Cleveland in it. I could beat those 340 Mopar's but I couldn't beat those 440s and 426 hemi's. Those were the days!
Michael
lol....So True. At the time My Mom and Dad were not sure it was a good thing or bad thing they hit the Rock.............but finally agreed it was...........as if they had not hit it, they most likely would have ROLLED it ( over and over ).
That is what we believe.....
Thanks for the ~ LOVES ~

Rev heads, all of you!!!
I hope his friend made it up to him. Take a man's money, Mess around with his girl but don't mess with his ride :)
I'd have worked to insure he'd never drive again.
Shit happens ! Did your brother get a job with NASA after that ? Had a GTO in those days with the 400 C" & flooring the petal was like hitting the panel on a P-51. It was also like flushing a toilet on the fuel tank. I even think my carb. was made by Amer. Standard or Kohler ! Probably lucky to be here on CW today !! I actually raced a P-51 once. Beat it for maybe 175 meters, but then it left me in the dust !!
In those days, I didn't smell anybody's exhaust ! maybe a bit shaky after a few runs though ! I seldom get my bike up to 80 (that's kph) today, but a small island with few straight-a-ways. I'm happy!!
Oh! My 180 cc gets almost 85 mpg & I get where I want to go without waiting in traffic doing close bumper inspections !! Luv it!! Oh! $1.50 Coronas here !
Great story Rose. Love the black and white original picture.
Great photo of the car !~
What a great story.Damn tires will get you every time.
Oh yeah, I remember those days back then, I'm lucky to be here today!

iggy --> They made some good ones back then ( Dodge/Chrysler = 4 Mopar Parts). Oh, I will have to look around to see IF I can find a pic of my Dad's car. He had a 1967 Plymouth Fury VIP ( 4 door ) in kinda a metal-flake brownish color. Something like this;

Zoooooom >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OUCH
Rose! Love your post, story, photo, and the Murphy's law part, lol.
Glad nothing serious happened to your brother and his frend! (wrecking apart!)
Such a shame Rosie.. Today the '71 Challenger is one of those highly sought after muscle cars. It's worth a pretty penny...
Thanks for the ~ LOVES ~
Rick55 --> Thank s Rick, yeah...and my brother had the 2 of them. One with the 440 - 6 pack, and also another one with the 318 in it. Yeah, those Muscle cars are now worth $$$$$$$.
kyratango --> Lol, yes....they were lucky. Back in the old 1970's, listening to music, crusing, drinking a few SODA's (lol ) ... and then trying to out run the cops. Not a good thing. Photos -- they capture a moment in time for SO many things!!
