      A steamer trunk, pre-1889. Examine the latch for a patent date/number.

      From Worthpoint:

      "Carpeles, Hartmann & CO incorporated into the Hartmann Trunk Company in 1889 so trunks still in the Carpeles era are rarer to find. While the spots on spots in such condition and the makers label are rare to find, this is not something all buyers would know."
