This was my dad's first toy in the 1940's. It was never played with and the key still winds. The toy still works. It rolls across the floor as Joe is being bucked up and down. I was told Howey Doody was modeled after Rodeo Joe. Not sure if this is true. I inherited this item on my dad's passing. If anyone can give me more info on this tin toy, I would appreciate it.
I'm seeing these on eBay right now. Most have reserves from $250 and up. As the completed listing I saw went for about $57 I can see why. Prices on these things are low right now. As it was your fathers' it's worth much more than what is going for now.
Toddy is a powdered milk drink manufactured by PepsiCo. As of today, it is mainly marketed and sold in Brazil and Venezuela, but in the 1950s-1960s it was sold as a canned beverage and marketed towards Americans, especially at drive-in movie theaters where it was advertised with the cartoon mascot "Rodeo Joe".
