This interesting brooch came from a second and shop in Ankara, Turkey. I think it's an award from a dog show and held a gold coin or medal. There's a glass bubble with a Boxer or Pitt Bull. It has lizzard, snake, or dragon's heads on either side, holding garlands of coins. It appears to be silver plated brass, but I think the gold tone frame may be old gold. It's clearly all hand made, possibly a faint miniscule K or A on the back, no other marks. I think it's 1880's German, possibly British. Anyone ever see anything like this before? It's quite an oddity. I paid $50 for it. Any thoughts would be welcomed. Thanks!
Strange, but beautiful!
The center "bubble glass" is called reverse painted crystal intaglio or wrongly Essex crystal. Can't see from the pic if it is a carved one or a moulded/pressed one (they are not of same value!).
Not specifically for dog show prizes, they were very fashionable, google images for them:

Wow! Thanks so much for such a quick reply a welcome! I've never seen anything like this before, which leads me to think they're not very common. It appears to be pressed and hand painted. I'm taking it to a jeweler friend to look at it more closely with their loop. It appears to have writing on the dog's red collar. Okay now off to enjoy your links!
