rhinestone pin ....the back shows some kind of small stamp but can't make it out. It has a tube hinge and early safety clasp
Approximately 2 1/2 inches
I don't know anything about rhinestone jewelry So any information would be helpful.
The stones surrounding the center stone are unique settings you can see in the close up picture.. I will post more pics on another posting
Beautiful work!
I thought it was well made myself.
I'd suggest having it tested for precious metals.
I di and they said it was a mixture of silver and iridium...not sure if its iridium he said or rhodium
Great old paste and rhinestones brooch! From the construction and settings it is somewhere around 1860/1880!
Silver was probably rhodium plated at a later date :-)
Ty I appreciate the info
kyra, would someone have had to remove all the stones for plating?
Hi Davyd, I'm not a specialist, but I don't think so. Soft stones or pearls would have to be removed, paste or rhinestones are very resistant if not backed or coated!
Any opinions on the value..roughly?
Sorry, no valuations here...
You may check the sold items section (worldwide ) on EBay for "antique victorian sterling paste brooch".
The fact yours is open back is good :-)
Thanks again
