I love the Etruscan-style replicas of horses and recently purchased these 2 at a moving sale - but I'm not sure what I purchased! Only thing they said they could tell me was that her mother purchased them in Africa years ago. I'm sure they're not rare - I just want to know something about them and I can't find anything like them in my internet searches- I've tried all sorts of word combinations but so far, nada. They are very heavy and may possibly are cast. The smaller one was clearly cut off of something and is a bright gold color on the bottom of its legs and tail so I'm guessing it's brass - probably both are. The larger one is approx. 9 1/2" tall by 8" long and the smaller one 7" tall x 9" long. The underneath side of the small one is very rough - and it's u-shaped. The base of the taller one shows they were not originally one piece - the horse was added to the base. Also very rough under the base - neither so much rough to the touch as rough in finish. Any info or suggestions would be very much appreciated!
This shape rather tells Greek to me :-)
