Here's a neat little vase from Savers. The colors swirl in a mix of yellow, pink, purple. and even some avocado green. The top's interior has a caramel color to it. One side shows mostly the yellows and the other side highlights the purple and pink colors. The bottom is polished with a concave pontil that also bears an embossed symbol or monogram. The side of the vase at the bottom has an engraved signature. So all this should make it easy to ID right ?...wrong !! Haven't got a clue. The signature is illegible. There's maybe an M.....B.....t that I can make out. The mark isn't much help either as I don't know which way to turn it. So I'm going to call this post an "Unsolved Mystery". Thinking caps on full power ! -Mike-

Similar to some of my Japanese pieces Mike, but obviously not Japanese1
I always find signatures on the side to be a very American thing, so probably a US artist.

Thanks Rose, OGF, and Karen....the signature is basically a scribble. It's half way between the clear base and the color so it reflects into the glass and gives a shadow of the signature behind it. Even in hand with a magnifying glass it's impossible to see it clearly. Now the mark on the bottom is very clear. Find that and you'll find the artist.....well maybe. :)

I have a small vase similar to this, but (1) it's only about 2.5 inches tall, and (2) the bottom has been ground flat, with the signature and date. Actually, I have for of these in different color combinations, and I just love them....and actually visited the artist at his studio in Wayland NY. He always signs them the same, so if this the same artist, you'll want to look at the bottom with the signature horizontally at the top, and the year just below to the right. He signs his work "August Hueter" in script. Tiny and hard to read without a magnifying glass. It might be easier if you were able to use something like hand soap rubbed in the etching to make it easier to read. Good luck! Unfortunately, he died of leukemia in 1999.
