Got this today with my change from store. I always check my coins after I get change because my friend found a 1965 dime pure silver.
I have always seen dimes with a copper line on one side, never one like this.

Your friend could not, then, have found an American silver dime if it was indeed 1965. We stopped silver coins in anything under half dollars in '64. For Canada, it ended in '63. For America, they were only 90% silver for dimes in the early '60s and before. Canada should be around 80%.
Coins that came apart were used in a spy ring for passing microfilm. This looks very strange to me.

SpiritBear, I know in 1965 all silver dimes where to be stopped, some made it by mistake, this is what makes them valuable $10,000
The way that Ruskie spy ring was exposed was partly because a 5¢ piece was discovered by a kid with microfilm in it, as I remember. It had accidentally been passed into circulation. Not a hard search . Hard to believe one would still be floating around today. It you show it to authorities, be sure to get a receipt with a good description since it may have another type of value.

I agree with blunder, it does look very peculiar. Try to gently open it. If it is one of those "spy coins", then there might be a hinge on the inside.

Canada actually made silver coins until 1968, not 1963. I should know as I was around back then. :-)

Efesgirl, isn't it strange that they are selling a quarter but show an open nickle ?
blunder - yes, a bit. I looked at the page again and I think it's just a demo photo of what will fit into a particular coin. Since a Quarter is larger than a Nickel, it's assured that a tiny USB card will also fit into the Quarter.
