Riding the Union Pacific in an E8A Locomotive

This EMD E8A was made by General Motors in 1953. The A in E8A refers to it having a cab. for streamlined trains like these they also made B units which had no cab. Aside from being less expensive they made the train look sleeker.
Anyway my seat is the fireman's seat in photo three. There are no controls there so I can't hurt anything. A neat feature of this locomotive as you can not tell when it starts to move. Normally they start with a jerk. This one seems to be not moving and eventually you notice the scenery starts to move. It's a luxury feature. Eventually we will go through some of the cars, they are very nice.
