This is a small, but pretty pietra dura brooch. It is only about 1 inch. It is in perfect condition. There are no marks.
Thanks for looking:)

These types of Florentine brooches are so pretty. Patience and talent required!

Efesgirl, don't you love their website?! So many beautiful things!
AuntMolly, I think it is possible but I am not sure. The metal doesn't show much of a patina. I was thinking that it was brass but I am not sure.
It is possible. I will have to have a better look tomorrow. I am quitting for today. Good night:)
Very pretty brooch, Freiheit! Love these :-)
I think it is too well made to be brass...
Agram tested hers and found they were gilded silver!
If the system is original, it is not from the Pinchbeck era but early 20th :-)
If you have it tested, please, let us know.
Agree with you both for the Morning glory site!
Beautiful pieces and very educational for jewelry collectors ;-D
I agree with the gilded silver thought. I have found that some really small items have either a tiny stamp on the clasp area, on the pin itself or simply none at all. I have a beautiful brooch that was sold to me as costume, but turned out the silver stamp was on the pin.

Lovely brooch, freiheit! For myself, I would have thought Indian since they do this sort of inlaid stone, and the setting looks Indian as well?
