Hi,
A few days ago on antiques fair I bought a set of pipes . I'm interested in the period of origin this items. What material can be made of these pipes and how much can be worth? thank you in advance for any help:)
Welcome to CW :-)
Sorry, no appraisers here...
Meerschaum for sure! and a nice collector's piece.
Certainly looks like Meerschaum and most likely late 19th century. You don't show the top of the case-- any makers information?
What did you pay for it?
scott
You did really well.
With the case and two bowls (heads), I would think you are in the $100+. To get a more precise figure, I'd suggest you take a look at ebay SALES.
The African meerschaum pipes always seem to find collector interest.
Thanks for sharing your bargain find!
scott
I changed the picture where you can see the top of the case. I paid for it 100 zl (it's approximately 26$).
kyratango... sorry for the question about the price but I just wanted to know I have not paid too much.
sorry for the mistakes, but my English is at a medium level
Do you know some good forums about the antiques where the object can be measured?
No issues: "an item’s value will sometimes be a part of the conversation".
Welcome to CW-- hope to see more of your finds.

I have more interesting items to identify. In spare time i will put them on forum.
Thanks for help:)
Victor, your English is better than medium :-D
You got a bargain!
Impatient to see your other pieces!
Have you tried to assemble it? The stem (shank) is made of wood and a mouthpiece should be attached to it. The other end fits meerschaum heads. The object in the middle should be a tobacco cup fitting the top of heads. Something is missing for sure (empty place in the box). Was it a mouthpiece? Hard to say unless assembled.
Appraisal is difficult, those pipes are either overestimated or underestimated. You can see the difference if you search UK and USA eBay for ``meerschaum pipe`` and German eBay for ``Meerschaumpfeife``.
