    NutfieldHi…
    (14 items)

I recently acquired this old leather trunk from the attic where it had been sitting for over 100 years. There is a "secret" compartment that looks like it is original to the trunk because of the lining underneath and the brass tacks used to attach the leather hinges. There is no room to put anything behind the door and it is not very concealed. Any idea on what it was used for? Also, how do I clean/take care of the leather?

I have found that I never go wrong using mink oil and saddle soap. Incidentally this
is a label that I have not seen before. I wish there was a better photo ,hard to read thanks for the post.

Thanks Drill. The label is of S M Lanathan of Lowell, MA. The label indicates that he was also a shoemaker. I'll definitely give the mink oil and saddle soap a try.
