Embossed lightly at the bottom it says "By Haynes, St. Paul" and has some symbol I cannot make out beyond a circle.
On the back, it has a number and tells me it's Tower Falls and Tower.

Photographer Frank J. Haynes was born in 1853 (in my state of Michigan but moved to Minnesota) and died in 1921. During his life, he photographed many of Yellowstone's natural wonders, including this one: Tower Falls.

This is a pre-1936 photo, I believe, as by 1936 the company doing photography for Yellowstone was Haynes, Inc.

Beyond this, I know little. He moved his studio in 1889 to its last location: St. Paul.

The photo seems older than the frame, which is older than its newer backing hanging wire. Its back had been water-damaged, and the original paper covering it all is long gone (traces remain.) Yet, somehow, the photo survived quite well.

I'm not finding much on this one. There was a coloured (hand-tinted) similar version in more fancy (not surprising since they coloured the photo) frame.
Before he moved to his St. Paul studio, he photographed the falls in a large print.

1916 the National Park Service was formed and in 1917 took control of Yellowstone, where my photo was taken. The photo only calls it Yellowstone Park.
      Might that help date it?

      Nice image!

A photo of the back with markings may help out.

There are several online sites with information on Haynes that may be useful in dating the image.

Thank you, Scott. All I have here posted is all I had found.
