Looking for some opinions on this piece, or if anyone recognizes the hallmark in pic. 4. I found this early this week and liked it, but I am not sure of the origin. Tiny pieces of turquoise and coral make up the pattern. The hallmark is a cross...almost like a celtic cross. It def. looks like it has some age to it, as half of the markings are worn away. Enjoy. Thanks!

What a beautiful bracelet! Can you clean it up and take another photo of the area where the marked "used" to be?

efesgirl.....in picture four. Looks like there used to be a few marks there. One of which is the cross. Thanks for the comment!

Yes, I see it. Cleaning an item often reveals marks not otherwise noticed/unreadable.

You think I should polish it?

I think you should at least polish the area where the stamps are/were. It would take some elbow grease to remove all that patina, but it's appearance would improve dramatically. There is silver that should be left alone if blackened with a heavy patina and pieces which should be polished, like this bracelet. Just be careful to not over-polish it.

Efesgirl. I have a lot of experience polishing sterling silver. I use Tarnishield by 3M., and cotton balls. Tarnishield has been proven to be the most effective and gentle of all abrasive cleaners. I swear by it. If I am going to polish it I am going to do the whole piece, not just one area, that will look funny. I am going to think about it, I will post a picture if I do. Thanks for the advice!

BHock, that trick with the soda crystals & boiling water somebody on CW came up with works great, is gentle on the silver & none is worn off. Since I tried it, I'm converted . Try it on something else & see what you think. Of course, this is after the wire wheel. LOL !

thanks blunder I'll give it a try. The wire wheel....not the crystals. LOL
