We have a pair of binoculars and case (see pictures) that belonged to my father-in-law who was a captain on a merchant marine ship before, during, and after WWII. One eye piece says Gall & Lembke, New York while the other says Lemaire FAB Paris. The case lid very clearly is stamped with the name Gall & Lembke, 2 Union Square & 1 West 42nd No. St, New York. I am trying to determine how these binoculars might be (he was know for buying things 2nd hand or even trading for things with people on the street of the ports he visited.) Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. If you have no information yourself perhaps you could direct me to a source I can contact for help. Thank you.
