I bought this figurine in an upmarket gift shop in China. About 6 or so years ago. I am 90% sure that it is just a run of the mill tourist item but it has something about it which makes me want more of this product. I never saw anything similar in the remaining 2 weeks. Any information at all would be of interest. I can't recall the price, but guessing I would say around the $50.00 mark.

It is 31cm tall and appears to have a clay interior but I know nothing about Chinese figurines so it could be made of anything and I wouldn't know any better. But I will learn.

Hi Sandy I have many of the same figurines. They are quite common. I bought mine in a Puxi, Shanghai market in 2006. I think your guess that they are a painted clay is a good one. My experience when buying was, the harder you bargain and the more you buy at one time, the better the price.
