First depression glass I ever bought.
I was out looking for pyrex mixing bowls, and didn't know what depression glass was. This sugar and creamer were so pretty I ended up bringing them home. I think the set was $12, if I remember correctly. To me it was some completely unnecessary and nameless sparkly purchase. They sat on my dining room table for a couple years. I kept noticing how striking they were. Fast-forward a couple years and I'd since learned a bit about depression glass from a friend who was also into vintage pyrex. I was out in thrift stores looking for 60's and 70's stuff again when I came a across a relish dish matching my sugar and creamer, but it was damaged and yet still pricey for a thrift store... so it finally occurred to me to try to identify the pattern. I went home and searched ebay, then replacements.com and discovered this is depression glass.
This is not Jeannette, I have discovered. Many people make the same mistake, and in fact that is why I believed it for so long, but I now believe it is Colony Whitehall Peach from the 70's. Kind of disappointing, but still beautiful pieces.
