made by one of Loetz' greatest competitors, this Kralik Cameo was made by the "acid cut back method." A pattern was painted onto the glass surface creating a stencil. The uncovered glass was subjected to strong acids that would eat thru the outer layer to the inner, frosted areas. Kralik was one of the very few Art Nouveau glasshouses to do cameo work with iridescent glass. Exactly as pictured in Das Böhmische Glas 1700-1950 Band IV page 158, attached.
That's beautiful! I've never heard of that maker but I do love any shade of amber. Thanks for sharing.
A beautiful vase. Tiffany did cameo work on some of their pieces; a former partner owned a fabulous Tiffany bowl. I think this is equal to it. Thanks famatta!
Ditto, czechman. Love the cheerful color.
I am usually not a big "yellow" fan, but this one is FANTASTIC!
Love it.
