Another charity shop find - I would put this in the late 19th or early 20th century. Unsure about its purpose. First I thought it's a decorative wall plaque, but there is no hole on the bottom rim. Maybe tea pot stand? It's just too small and the top doesn't show much wear, albeit the all thing has a fine crazing . Measures 8.5'' x 7'' x 1.25''. I appreciate any thoughts about it.

This is really pretty! It does look like it could be a teapot or other sort of stand, but it's much too lovely to set a teapot on!

Could it be a decorative piece that you keep on table or desk stand? Don't really know what I'm talking about, but thought I'd just throw in my 2 cents' worth! [;>)))))

Nevada. you certainly have got a point and that's surely worth more than two cents !!! :))) Thanks for your interesting comment and thanks to everybody for stopping by and loving it!!!

When I saw this, I thought it was a decorated lid. That oval in the middle on the unpainted side reminded me of the section that fits inside the rim of the base to keep the lid from moving around freely. The size would mean it's for a really big jar / pot / vase though. : ) And unless the edge of the lid stuck out past the rim of the base, there would be no good way to lift it. Oh, well. Just a thought...

If this would be the case, it would be an easy way to lift it, because the rim is quite wide. Who knows? Maybe you are right :)
