This Loetz vase is the same shape as the Loetz Olympia I posted earlier but I don't know the name of the décor for this one. It has a 'panelled' look around the neck like the Olympia but is much more iridescent. The flat top of the rim looks like a mirror.

I feel that the green is not true, in real life it is deeper and less bluish. The final image gives a better idea of the range of the iridescence.

If anyone could name the decor I would be delighted. I have searched Loetz.com but still cannot be sure. The décor was identified by welzebub as Loetz Creta Glatt. Thank you!

They were so clever. Look at the way the shape and the dimples accentuate the colour change. very fine!

Thanks, Karen, and there's almost more dimple than vase beneath the neck!

It appears to me to be Creta Glatt. Bottom section of this page.

Thank you so much, Craig :) I did notice that it close in colour and silkiness to a piece of Kralik Glatt I have, if that's relevant!
    6. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
Yes that is relevant.... It is possible that it could be Kralik also. I am curious about what the pontil work looks like?
    7. sklo42 sklo42, 9 years ago
It has a polished pontil, just like the Olympia.
    8. welzebub welzebub, 9 years ago
If I have a chance I will look in the Loetz drawings to see if I can find the shape.
    9. sklo42 sklo42, 9 years ago
To save your time, Craig, the Olympia was PNII-238 and they come in sizes 4.5, 5.5 and 6.0 jnches.

OK. I missed that in the opening sentence.... Duh.... pretty much settles it then.

Thank you, NevadaBlades, I share your love of green! Luckily for me it seems to have been a popular colour in the Art Nouveau Period.

What an elegant vase! I have always loved this form. How wonderful to have two but in different decors! Will you display them side by side?
    15. sklo42 sklo42, 9 years ago
Thank you, Michelle, not side by side exactly, but each in a little group at opposite ends of the mantlepiece. Varying shades but all green......NevadaBlades would approve!
