This is a antique helmet that was an Estate acquisition. I'm unsure of the origin. Greek? ... Roman? ... African? The dimensions are approximately 18" x 12" x 7.5" and it is heavily oxidized. Can anyone help in identifying the origin of the item and it's possible age? Thanks.
interesting! i think it's probably pretty new, but still very cool!
Wow, looks sinister! Can you actually open it and stick your head in? More an art piece than an actual helmet would be my guess.
looks like an Ant Eater to me.....LOL
Hmmmmmmmmmm....Lots of rust and corrosion that ~ Seems ~ so uniform?? I do not know
...and fairly sure it looks like arc-welded joints. (=modern) If it was old it would have rivets.
This mask would give me nightmares!
Wicked! Love it.
Fantastic -- I agree it looks modern, maybe from the late 1950s- 60s
Hello All ... Got the chance to have a archaeologist look at the mask. His findings result in that this is a Roman inspired "art" mask, approximately 55 - 65 yrs old. Thanks to all for your insight & opinions ... a few were on point!
