PS: I went back to get the toast-rack! It was an extra $1. It has a chip, but what the heck !!!

A few weeks back I saw this and some salt and peppers at the Salvo's.

At home research told me that the design comes from the Sixties ..... one of a series that Beswick called 'Trendsetter'. There were four separate designs in this range : Apollo, Lunar, Metric and Verona.

This piece is from the Metric range.

Metric was one of the modernist designs of Harry Sales who worked at Beswick from 1961 until 1986.

In 1961 Harry Sales left E Brain & Co and started to work at the Beswick factory. He became the design manager there and later worked at Royal Doulton, creating a new Bunnykins range. He did some figures for Beswick too that are modernist classics

I love toast racks -- this is a really nice one! And if you don't use them for toast, you can use them for incoming/outgoing mail, or to hold any number of things on one's desk.
