Today I found two pins. This one is a Henry Culman glass enamel brooch. Henry Culman had a Jewelry shop in Honolulu from 1902 - 1919. Normally, I wouldn't buy a pin with a coat of arms, but this was a beauty. The colors don't show up in the photos, but they are yellow, deep red, dark blue and fine silver inclusions of crosses and other minute details. The fine details need to be seen in person to be appreciated. It is slightly larger than 1 6/8" x 1" and weighs 12.5 grams. The hinge is a barrel hinge and the catch is a C catch. All-in-all a good day treasure hunting.
Edit: The yellow is gold--metallic--leaf? The shield in the very center of the crest is dark green.
Thanks for the loves, mikelv8, Windwalker, vetraio50! I love this brooch too!
PhilDMorris, racer4four, muchas gracias!
Very nice buy!
That is very nice, I never saw that before and i'm from Hawaii.
I love it. Apparently it is a "thing" if you search H. Culman Hawaiian Coat of arms you will see some that are made in gold and bejeweled. This wasn't in my price range, but it was too cool to let go. Thanks, Tabacsie.
