Hello,
I found this at an estate sale this morning. It's a beautiful piece, an original illuminated house blessing by the artist E. Helene Sherman. I believe it's done on sheepskin parchment. Even the edge of the mat is decorated. It has a nice old frame, ( looks like it was framed in the 40's or so ), unfortunately the mat is not archival, but altogether, wrinkles and all, it's wonderful.
E. Helene Sherman happens to be very well known for her illuminated work and, small artistic books. She lived in Sudbury, Massachusetts,....would love to have more info on her but I've had a hard time finding anything.
I hope you'll like it, love it, and the blessing by Arthur Guiterman, too!
Happy Sunday,
Tonino
I would love to be able to do work like this .... just STUNNING !!!!
