Hello everyone.
Have had this for about 3 years now. The first time I saw it was when it was listed as a 15ct gold single earring included in a group of military buttons!!!! Did not bid as I wasn't sure, and did not want the buttons! Any way the group sold!
A week or so later, much to my delight, the buyer, who obviously just wanted the buttons, listed the earring for $17.00!!! I was very lucky to win it for this price!!
As you can see I hope in the pictures it has the saw tooth edges, hinged reverse fitting and I do believe the fixed ring might be a wig loop.....
It appears to have the gold wire work decoration under the crystal. (It came with the extra loop....maybe someone had been wearing it on a chain, so I have left it on). Might even be pre Georgian? Love to hear what you think, thanks
Some people have suggested that it would make a lovely ring....which it would! but I just can't bring myself to do that.....
Hi NevadaBlades.....many thanks!
Thank you vetraio50, much appreciated!
Yes, this is Georgian as the earring must be placed in the ear back-to-front. Are there any gold marks on it at all?
These are similar.

You were very lucky!
Great jewelry knowledge too, not everybody knows about the wig loop :-)
I would keep it as is, (only remove the added ring), and use it as a bale on a bead necklace for hanging another spare find!
Thanks efesgirl, appreciated and for the link and love. No hallmarks, but I would not have expected there to be.
Thanks kyratango, yes I was pretty excited! And really appreciate your lovely comment and appreciation.

SEAN68....thanks very much...appreciated!
The smaller loop directly attached to the earwire is actually a "stop", placed there to prevent the earring from tipping upside down when worn. A wig loop would have been more permanently attached to the earwire but the place on the metal where it used to be often gets buffed out and hard to find, so the "jumpring" is an addition and can be removed. Such a small earring wouldn't even need a wig loop due to its light weight, even if it had a removable drop pendant, it would be relatively small.
