Bought here in Sydney, Australia.
Loetz Zephir Chiné. Coral and shell cornucopia as if found on the sea floor.
I've been told by Alfredo Villanueva that it is from the late nineteenth century.
For me it represents Naturalism and the influence of Nature on the applied arts.
Thanks to Dr. K. M. Hasselbach for the PN number: PN=I/7008 1897 !!!
WOW!! SOOOO BEAUTIFUL.
LOVE,LOVE,LOVE IT
Beautiful! Just Beautiful! THanks for sharing.
Wowza,......Now that's eye candy

Many thanks bratjdd, czechman & miKKoChristmas11 too!
Membranous-like, with an almost macabre beauty,.......I love it!
Many thanks Budek!
I've seen this quote: "Naturalism is the generic term for Art Nouveau, Organic Architecture and Expressionism". Perhaps you've picked up on the expressionist distortion of the concept of 'cornucopia' and placing it in those arms of coral; I agree it's beauty is macabre. The glass artists at Loetz and Kralik (as Alfredo says) were up there with the best.
MANY THANKS BEAUXPURDY!
Many thanks musikchoo, scandinavian_pieces & Slave-to-glass too!

Many thanks greatsnowyowl!
Oh my god... Was this a thrift store find? Or did you pay retail? I really would like to learn about art glass, but it seems like theres soooo much to know... However, THIS would deffinitely be something I'd pick up at a thrift store, its pretty obviously something good
It was from the Collector's Fair here in Sydney the first Sunday of each month. I paid eighty for it.
I have to say it again vetraio5 ..this is gorgeous I love looking at it!.....:-)
I know my mother has some Loetz thats valuable, that favrile stuff with the sterling overlay, but is it all very valuable? Or only the early pieces like this?
I'd have a look at the auction sites. Quittenbaum, Christies, etc. as well as ebay for ideas about values ..... supply and demand are always the determining factors.
you left out the most important factor Vetraio, Condition.. Color also matters what is it, the three c's.. Condition, Color and something else. Maybe Condition again? LOL
True snowy! This one is damaged, but then I didn't care.
Perhaps the other C is "cross-over"?
for 80 bucks who cares right? I'd have shelled out 80 for it without thinking. :)
Many thanls stillwater 'n mikielikesigns2 too!

illustration 311 shows similar in this colour .
will try to scan if I have time latter
Thanks Marty! Love to see it!
Just changed the Title, Mart!
I'm off to Qld tomorrow and should be out the door now will try to do it
No problems Marty. Maybe some of the hounds will comment. I do not have the book! Enjoy the warmer climes!
Many thanks dlfd911!
Thanks again MSL!
Kevin, this one is COOL!!
Hi MSL!
It looks like it has just been plucked out of the Mediterranean!
A piece of Mother Nature's Art on the ocean floor.
I think the construction of the foot is different to the Harrach versions.
Kevin, this is so natural and so really amazing to look at!!! Great score!! BTW I am learning to love a piece with it not being totally intact! If we wanted that..we should buy new!!!
Totally correct.
I didn't buy it to sell it.
There is really only a market for perfect pieces unless they are extraordinarily rare.
But this has given me great pleasure: the money paid for it has been totally well spent.
Kevin, was it reasonable? I love my Blue Kralik from the SA for $2.99 with 2 broken feet ...its one of my nearest and dearest to me...XO
It was no bargain I paid three figures.
and it was a stunning 3 figures:)
Kevin, oh wow!!!! If I had the money I would have paid that for the vase too!!!! XOXOX
I had sold some stuff and was all cashed up at the time.
The money itself is not important.
Money is just time ... and effort.
A means to an end: Buying eye candy?
Kevin, that is what I am doing...selling my personal jewelry to fund my new found glass passion!!!! I need to go to BGAA (Bohemian Glass Aholics Anonymous)..since being on CW!!!!! I was getting over Antique Moonstones! SIGH :0

It seems that both Harrach and Loetz did versions of these shell vases around 1897. Alfredo was generous in sending me images of the Harrach pieces and some text that clarifies the question of Harrach and Loetz:
"The form and execution with a finely spun mesh were most probably inspired by very similar vases-shells produced from 1897 by the Johann Loetz Witwe glassworks in Klastersky Mlyn ..... Vases from Klastersky Mlyn differ in the optical ribbing of the conch and the more elaborate, more sculpturally formed foot with notches."
If you look at the pictures above it is the notches in the foot that give it away .... PN=I/7008 1897 .
The Harrach pieces have a pad foot.
