Unidentified tool that I believe to be a measuring device for testing coin box pay phones. It was found in my father's belongings and he was a retired C&P Phone Co. Technician. The top lines in red lettering are hard to read in the photos: "Transmitter Service" "After One Minute Closed Circuit" "Three Cells One Cell"

    Unsolved Mystery

This looks like a battery test meter for telephones back when telephones had dry cell 1 1/2 volt batteries. For instance, wall phones with oak cases.

Really neat old tool. Might I ask what C&P Phone Co. is & was located ? If you're not a "hit &run" or "drive-by" poster, welcome to CW: aka, CyberAsylum .

Thanks Gary. Notice how slickly I got you to look that up for me ? LOL ! Just kidding. I had never heard the term "Baby Bell" either.

That is a neat meter for testing dry cell batteries for old oak wall phones. What I don't know is, what is the wind up on top for???

Super cool tool. Dad left you something very special and it was evidently well cared for by him. The winder might be for the 'for single cells depress stem' function.
