Hello, I am brand new at collecting oil lamps. I purchased this with a few other oil lamps at an auction. Originally, I thought it was a whale oil lamp. But, I don't really know. It is very small. 6" tall and base bottom is about 2" x 2". I can't figure out how any oil would be put into it, as the brass thingy connected to the font top does not seem to be removable. Any help would be appreciated!

Alcohol lamp? Best guess so far, IMHO. Still searching.

Decanter? With a wick? Still researching.

Usually the wick holder has threads that screw into the collar....can you see if the brass part holding the wick is made in 2 parts....if yes, then it is threaded and should come apart to allow filling. It is an Alcohol lamp used by jewellers etc...

Yeah! The brass part holding the wick was in fact made in two parts and I finally got it to come apart! Thank you! (Still can't figure out why it was in a massive collection of antique oil lamps...a by its little, lonesome self).
