    (199 items)

3D sign Jacky picked up by a marina trash bin. Somebody went overboard making this one. Then Almond Grove is my community. "The guards aren't there to keep me in ?!!" Then, sugarbirds covering my soursop tree waiting for the honky to feed the little buggers.

    18. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Motor, would you go to that much trouble to make a No Smoking sign ? I wouldn't ! They must have been working by the hour. LOL !

      Great 3D sign BB2.

Good idea Anne. Of course it would probably be destroyed with drill holes by U.S. Customs though.
    22. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 9 years ago
Nicefice, your invitation is noted and Jan. will be starred on my calendar so that if I don't have something planned for that month, I will invent something. Also, I assure you that I don't own any "long underwear" & have no intention of shopping for any as they don't sell them in SXM. LOL ! On the other hand, you might consider a visit to SXM in Jan., and don't bring "long johns".

Hi there blunderbuss, Good to see you're still kicking! Great sign!
    24. akrodog akrodog, 8 years ago
Blunderbuss2, I see you have KY connection. I'm in heart of the Bluegrass! Shake hands sometime possibly?
    25. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Akro, I'm in Lexington right now & will be in Georgetown for the day this Sat.. 18 days & a wake-up before I'm homeward bound. Email is on my profile. When do they turn on the heat in KY ? !!
    26. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Roy, I notice that that site has a map of St. Eustatius where I lived for 8 yrs. You don't see many references to it/Statia.
Akro, I'm down to 14 days & a wake-up. I go to the Chenoe Pub by a Krogers each nite about 5:30 & have 2 beers.
    27. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Roy, you must be looking at old google and a past flat ! LOL ! Tire inflated & holding air. Now the pub ! If you are doing a study of KY wildlife, it would be a dud ! More like V.F.W. . LOL !! You don't see patrons backing into parking places so they can get away fast, like many places I've been.
    28. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Roy the wind comes out of the SE almost all the time, so planes land & take off in 12(0), where the famous beach where the idiots ride the fence. I'm still searching for intelligent life on the planet ! BTW. My shop is at the French airport(aerodrome) @ Grand Case. No sign.
    29. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
When light traffic allows us to break away from usual traffic patterns, I've timed it at 4 1/2 mins. from takeoff to touchdown from 1 airport to the other in a single engine. Hey, it's not a big island !
    30. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
That's my airport. That guy was too high on final. I have some great cockpit shots coming in there & other strips !
    31. trunkman trunkman, 8 years ago
I didn't realize cigarettes came that big -- must be an island thing...
    32. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
T-Mon, you should see the ones without filters.
    33. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago

      3 days & a wake-up !!
    35. Vintagefran Vintagefran, 8 years ago
What people throw away often amazes me. Crazy.
    36. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Very true, Vintage. Of course it was Jacky who said it had been thrown away & that may be taken with a grain of salt. LOL !!
    37. mcheconi mcheconi, 8 years ago
We have these birds (Coereba flaveola) here in Brazil too and they are called "cambacica" here.
    38. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Hey, thanks Mcheconi ! This became an issue & now we know. That's about a dozen or more names for what I generally call "the little buggers". I picked "mariquita" because I liked the sound. Most of my Portugese was in popiamento & I've forgotten most of that. So this is settled. Everywhere I've lived from Jamaica to Curacao, they have been called "sugar birds" as I remember. Mystery solved !
    39. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Tropical disturbance Lucas was downgraded due to wind-shear from tropical depression Jacky. We are are watching the situation closely for any developments. Conditions still exist for the perfect storm.
    40. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Another day on the "friendly f--king island" in other words !
    41. mcheconi mcheconi, 8 years ago
"Sugar birds" is fine 'cause they compete with humming birds for food. Here's a ink to my bird photography page on Wiki Aves (Wikibirds): http://en.wikiaves.com/perfil_checoni
    42. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Mcheconi, I don't see a mariquita/cambacica there ? Oh Windwalker, I did get a T-shirt that says "Will Fix Airplanes For Beer". LOL !
    43. mcheconi mcheconi, 8 years ago
BB, here you have the species page http://en.wikiaves.com/cambacica

At the bottom of this page you'll find the pictures taken by Wikiaves members

My picture of the cambacica is here http://en.wikiaves.com/2021211&p=1&t=u&u=7263&s=11542

It is called "bananaquit" in English (I didn't know that, found out today while searching in the English version of the website)
    44. fortapache fortapache, 8 years ago
You do have a fine flock of feathered friends.
    45. mcheconi mcheconi, 8 years ago
On the species page, at the middle of the page you'll find a subspecies list...there are 41 subspecies, most of them living in the Caribbean...you'll have to cope with the little buggers, I guess LOL
    46. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Mcheconi, the one in your pic must be female because it looks like it just got shagged. LOL !! The little buggers are eating my soursop now !
    47. mcheconi mcheconi, 8 years ago
LOL...BB the pic was taken very early in the morning, so I guess she had a busy night, poor thing.
    48. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Well, it said "gender unknown". Just helping you fill in the info. ! LOL !! Every 3 or 4 months, most of them disappear for a month or so, like right now. Guess they are out raiding everybody's fruit when it ripens, like my soursop ! Gone from 5-7 feedings a day to 1. At least it's quieter . Now, about all these dove - - - -.
    49. AmatoorPikr, 8 years ago
      Beautiful birds and beautiful island.
    50. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
Amatoor, I can only take credit for the pix. I just had cataracts removed & it's like seeing SXM anew.
    51. buckethead, 8 years ago

    56. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
PCC, left clk. on a poster's profile pic & you will get what they want to share. In my case, I live in the "Wayward Islands". Quite a ways from Phoenix !
    57. PostCardCollector PostCardCollector, 8 years ago
I see--beautiful!! No, not to worry--I wan't planning tp walk over for a tablespoon of sugar.. Just was dropping by to say I thought your photo was really nice!
    58. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
You're welcome anytime PCC & always plenty of extra sugar because of the bloody birds. Passed thru Phoenix yrs. ago.
    59. PostCardCollector PostCardCollector, 8 years ago
It looks like you have a wonderful place to nest in. I am a real homebody, and really don't even want to travel. Seems like you on the other hand have seen a lot of the earth we live on. I have not many memories to keep me compsny about places I have been. Chicago & Phoenix are the ONLY places I have lived
"IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME". me and "Cher"
    60. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 8 years ago
"If I could turn back time", I might be living in Ardmore, Oakland, Detroit, Kingston, Puerto Barrios, Churchill, etc. PCC. Think I will settle for where I am & have been (Dutch) for the past 37 yrs. We have an understanding. I leave them alone & they leave me alone. It works & they have the safer end of the deal.

Thanks Windwalker. Enjoyed that & have to watch the movie again. Of course, here, I can only cruise so far in a straight line before my feet get wet.

thought you were holding a" will work for food sign " on the corner like they do round here ....lol but I was wrong...later
    67. blunderbuss2 blunderbuss2, 3 years ago
Naw, we don't have people here who vote for a living. Our businesses aren't hurting for people to work. Why don't "Merica's" homeless fill your job openings ?
    68. Rocky22222 Rocky22222, 3 years ago
BB why would they do that, just stay home and watch for the mailman ...lol
