This arrived for me today. I was really looking forward to seeing this case. It was made by the German silversmith Louis Kuppenheim of Pforzheim, it's does have his hallmarks on the case. Louis Kuppenheim was active between the years 1900-1940. I know he made many silver cigarette cases. This is a small case which I would have thought was used by a lady, the size is is 8.4 X 4.3 X 1cm and weighs 54 grams. It's a pretty little case with a etch pattern on the outside. There are 6 rubies set in a triangle and the opening clasp is also set with a ruby, I'm not sure if the rubies are real or synthetic.
I'm not sure also when this case was made, if anybody has any idea it would be much appreciated.
Many thanks for looking

It is so elegant yet small!
Hi Karen, thanks for your comment. Yes its a slim and elegant case, if I smoked I would certainly use this.
Hi, nice cig. case. The case bears the old or first hallmark I have seen. Made between 1884 to 1900. See link here and scroll down. Would be Cat. A.

The rubies are most probably genuine. I have examined most of mine and these seem all to be natural and not synthetic.
All the best

Thank you mr.de the link above was very informative. You say it is the first early mark you have seen of Louis Kuppenheim, so could you tell me if this is the first or oldest hallmark you have ever seen on one of his cigarette cases.
Hi. It is the oldest LK mark. Meaning I have several pieces with the same mark. What else is intersting is the (hall)mark 130. I have no idea for what this stands for. I have seen many many different lk pieces with the 130 mark. They normally always have 1-3 Digit no. But 130 is on like 10-20% of the LK objects.....
Oh, that's very interesting, thank you so much mr.de for your time and information. Do you know if there is anywhere I can find out more information, maybe there is some kind of group, I'm really interested to find out more. :-)
