This is one of my recent finds. I must thank my sister for telling me to look into old Mexican silver and old Mexican pawn. This is not pawn. The marks on this necklace indicate that it was made in Taxco, and has an Eagle stamp with a "3." Unfortunately for me, I cannot decipher the artist's initials -- IMV, RMM, RNV???? No matter. It looks great on.
The metrics of the necklace are thus; 16 1/4" long. 18.7g weight, 6 bench beads-- I like the old tongue and groove clasp.
The silver links of the necklace are etched with lines, and the balls have a faint combed appearance-- all the better to hold oxidization. I polished this a tiny bit, to show a little of the silver.
Thanks for stopping by.
This beautiful necklace is pre-1979. That's the last year the Eagle mark was used.
Thanks Efesgirl, I should have mentioned that. I think the clasp may indicate its age--- as newer necklaces like this have lobster claw-type clasps.
Thanks for the loves martika, mareredware, kyratango,Efesgirl,mikelv85, Caperkid, racer4four.
