I purchased this lovely item through an online auction. I do not know much about it except that it depicts a double headed eagle crest in a damascene setting. If anyone has info about this, please let me know! Thanks

      Hi,
It was made in Toledo, Spain.
      Compare with this

Could also be Serbian or Ruskie as it isn't an exact match to any of the 3.

Neither of them (no four flint strikers for Serbia and no King`s crown, Russian Eagle has St George, no imperial crown, the shield is not divided). The link I gave shows exactly the same work of incrustation gold of Toledo,Spain).

The double headed eagle goes back to ancient times with many minor variations. The Serbian & Montenegro eagles do have the strikers but this more closely resembles the Byzantine or flag of the Greek Orthodox Church. The symbol of the striker that I am familiar with is the shape of a squares off "C" in this form & reversed. This could go on & on & on as artisans add their little differences also.

The style of the double eagle is Holy Roman Empire. The arms in the center are Spanish, Castile and Leone, so this would be a time when one of the Spanish Kings was the Holy Roman Emperor.
